1. OVERVIEW

This web privacy statement (“Web Privacy Statement”) applies to the websites owned and operated by Oak Paper Products Co. Inc. and its affiliated entities including Oak Distribution Company and Acorn Paper Products Company (collectively, “Oak Paper Products,” “our,” “we,” or “us”) including the sites located at https://www.oakdistribution.com and https://www.acorn-paper.com (each and collectively, “Site”).

We developed this Web Privacy Statement to explain our practices regarding the personal information we collect from you or about you on our Site. While this Web Privacy Statement broadly describes the practices we have adopted in the United States, local laws vary and some jurisdictions may place restrictions on our collection, use, or disclosure of personal information. Our actual practices in such jurisdictions may be more limited than those described in this Web Privacy Statement to comply with local requirements. By accessing or using our Site, or submitting information to us, or otherwise agreeing to this Web Privacy Statement, e.g., in the context of purchasing any of our products or services, you understand and consent to our collection and use of your personal information as described herein.

2. WHAT PERSONAL INFORMATION WE COLLECT

Generally, you will know what personally identifiable information we collect from you through the Site because you will actively provide the information to us through a form or otherwise. We do not collect social security numbers or other sensitive information through the Site except for payment information as necessary to accept payment for our products or services. We may collect the following personally identifiable information through the Site:

a. Customers

In order to provide you with products or services, we require customers provide certain information. This may include customer name, company name, email address, and other information you may choose to provide such as but not limited to products you wish to order, your shipping address, and payment information. For purposes of this Web Privacy Statement, this information is the “Customer Data.”

b. Web Technologies

In making our Site available, we collect personal information as described in Section 5 below.

We use the information we collect to identify the parties with whom we are interacting and to provide products and services. We may also use the information for statistical and/or marketing purposes, to improve our technologies and services, to provide information about our company, and to deliver promotional information. These uses are intended to enhance your experience at the Site and enable us to present you content and services in which we think you might be interested.

We may add your information to our databases to contact you through future e-mails, postal mailings, telemarketing and SMS text-messaging regarding site updates, events, new products and services, and/or the status of orders placed online.

Our Privacy Policy may change from time to time and all updates will be posted on this page.

We do not share personal information with third parties for their direct marketing purposes. If we do share personal information in this way in the future, we will obtain your permission before doing so.

5. USE OF WEB TECHNOLOGIES

Our Site uses a number of web technologies (“Technical Data”), including those described below, which help provide functionality to the site and provide information to us and our service providers. These technologies may collect personal information like your IP address over time and across different web sites.

a. Cookies

A cookie is a small text file that is stored on a user’s computer for record-keeping purposes. We use cookies on the Site. We may link the information we store in cookies to personally identifiable information that you submit while on our Site. We use both session ID cookies and persistent cookies. A session ID cookie expires when a browser is closed. A persistent cookie remains on your hard drive for an extended period of time. Persistent cookies also enable us to track and target the interests of our users to enhance the experience on our Site. You can remove the persistent cookies by following the directions provided in your internet browser’s “help” file. If you reject cookies, you may still use our Site, but your ability to use some areas of our Site will be limited.

b. Log File

By default, our Site gathers information automatically and stores it in log files. This information includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, operating system, date/time stamp, and clickstream data.

We may use this information, which does not identify individual users, to analyze trends, to administer the Site, to monitor traffic around the site and to gather demographic information about our user base as a whole.

6. DO NOT TRACK

When you use the Site, we may receive “do not track” requests from you, whether via signals from web browsers or other mechanisms. At this time, our Site does not respond to such “do not track” requests.

When we ask for payment information, we protect it through the use of encryption during transmission, such as SSL (Secure Socket Layer). However, no method of transmission over the Internet is completely secure. Therefore, while we strive to protect personally identifiable information within industry standards, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Our Site is not intended for or targeted to persons younger than 16 years old (“Children”). No information is knowingly collected or retained from Children, nor is any such information knowingly used for any marketing or promotional purposes whatsoever, either inside or outside the Site. Children are prohibited from using the Site or otherwise submitting any personal information to us.

By using our Site you consent to such contact. You may opt-out of marketing communications from us by responding to any such email and asking that you be removed from our marketing contact list. You may not opt-out of communications from us with respect to providing you products and services such as receiving product invoices or shipping notifications.

CALIFORNIA PRIVACY STATEMENT

This California privacy statement (“Statement”) applies to Oak Paper Products Co. Inc. and its affiliated entities including Oak Distribution Company and Acorn Paper Products Company (collectively, “Oak Paper Products,” “our,” “we,” or “us”) and is effective as of the date last updated, located at the bottom of this document.

For California consumers, this Statement supplements and supersedes the practices we have adopted with respect to our Site as described in our Web Privacy Statement, to describe our collection, use, and disclosure of personal information across our business. All defined terms within the California Consumer Privacy Act, including those defined in Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.140, apply for the purposes of interpreting this Statement. Capitalized terms defined in our Web Privacy Statement but not defined in this Statement have the meaning assigned in the Web Privacy Statement.

 1. Your California Privacy Rights

As a California consumer, you have the right to request that we disclose what personal information about you we collect, use, disclose, and sell. More specifically, you have rights to the following without charge.

a. Disclosure of Personal Information We Collect About You

You have the right to know, upon submission of a verifiable request, the categories of personal information we have collected about you, the categories of sources from which we collect personal information, our business or commercial purpose for collecting or selling personal information, the categories of third parties with whom we share personal information, if any, and the specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you.

We will not retain any personal information about you that was collected for a single one-time transaction if, in the ordinary course of business, that information about you is not retained; not reidentify or otherwise link any data that, in the ordinary course of business, is not maintained in a manner that would be considered personal information; and reserve our right not to provide personal information to you more than twice in a 12-month period.

d. Disclosure of Personal Information Sold or Disclosed for a Business Purpose

In connection with personal information we may sell or disclose for a business purpose, if any, you have the right to know the categories of personal information about you that are sold and the categories of third parties to whom the personal information is sold, and the categories of personal information that are disclosed about you for a business purpose, and the categories of third parties to whom personal information is disclosed for a business purpose.

e. Your Right to Opt-Out of the Sale of Personal Information

A “sale” under California law is defined as any transfer of personal information for value.  Because personal information is valuable to many businesses, many commonplace transfers are considered to be sales under the law.  We do not not sell personal information.  If in the future we do sell personal information, you will be given notice and an opportunity to opt-out of sales.

f. Deletion of Personal Information

Subject to the exceptions set out below, and upon your submission of a verifiable request, you have the right to deletion of your personal information from our records, and to have us direct our service providers delete your personal information from their records.

We are not required to, and reserve our right not to, delete your personal information it if is necessary to complete the transaction for which the personal information was collected or reasonably anticipated within the context of our ongoing business relationship with you, provide a good or service requested by you, or otherwise perform a contract between you and us; detect security incidents; protect against malicious, deceptive, fraudulent, or illegal activity, or prosecute those responsible for that activity; debug, identify, or repair errors that impair existing intended functionality; exercise free speech, ensure the right of another consumer to exercise his or her right of free speech, or exercise another right provided for by law; comply with the California Electronic Communications Privacy Act; enable solely internal uses that are reasonably aligned with your expectations based on the your relationship with us; comply with an existing legal obligation; and otherwise use your personal information, internally, in a lawful manner that is compatible with the context in which you provided the information. The foregoing list of exceptions to the deletion right is provided for informational purposes only, and in no way limits the circumstances in which such requests for deletion may be denied beyond the limitations imposed by applicable law.

g. Children’s Personal Information

We do not knowingly collect, disclose, or sell personal information from individuals under 16 years of age. You warrant that you are sixteen (16) years of age or older to use our website. If you do not qualify, you may not use our website. If you are a parent or legal guardian, please do not to allow your children to submit personal information to us.

h. Freedom from Discrimination

You have the right to not be discriminated against by us if you exercise any of your rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act. This means we cannot do any of the following on the basis of your exercise of the foregoing rights: deny goods or services to you; charge different prices or rates for goods or services, including through the use of discounts or other benefits or imposing penalties; provide a different level or quality of goods or services to you; or suggest that you will receive a different price or rate for goods or services or a different level or quality of goods or services.

i. Shine The Light Requests

Individual customers who reside in California and have provided us certain personal information may request information about our disclosures of certain categories of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. Such requests must include your name, street address, city, state, and zip code, and be submitted to us at the following address: Oak Paper Products Co., Inc., ATTN: CA SHINE THE LIGHT LAW, 3686 Olympic Blvd., Los Angeles, California 90023. Within thirty days of receiving such a request, we will provide a list of the categories of personal information disclosed to third parties for third-party direct marketing purposes during the immediately preceding calendar year, along with the names and addresses of these third parties. This request may be made no more than once per calendar year. We reserve our right not to respond to requests submitted to addresses other than the addresses specified in this paragraph.

2. How to Exercise Your Rights

Residents of California may, unless otherwise specified, exercise any of your rights described in this Statement by completing a consumer request form available here or calling us toll-free at 1-888-522-2676.

In order to verify your request, you will need to provide us with enough information to identify you (e.g., your full name, address,), proof of your identity and address (e.g., a copy of your driving license or passport and a recent utility or credit card bill), and a description of what right you wish to exercise along with any information to which your request relates.

You may also designate an authorized agent to make a request under the California Consumer Privacy Act on your behalf. In order to fulfill your request to know or delete submitted by an authorized agent, you must provide the authorized agent written permission to do so, and we may require you verify your own identity with us directly.

We reserve our right not to grant a consumer request if we cannot verify that the person making the request is the person about whom we collected information or someone authorized to act on such person’s behalf. You may only make a request to access or receive copies of personal information twice within a 12-month period. Any personal information we collect from you to verify your identity in connection with your request will be used solely for the purposes of verification. 

3. Our Collection and Disclosure of Personal Information

          a. Personal Information We Collect

     In addition to the information collected through our Site as described in our Website Privacy Policy, we necessarily collect some personal information at many touch points and consumer interactions, and in conducting our business. This personal information may include personal and company name, email address, postal address, phone number, fax number, title; gender; internal contact notes; credit card information; billing address; county; and signature. We collect personal information in certain common cases, such as:

    Social Media.

    If you choose to interact with us through social media activities or offerings, we may collect certain information from your social media account consistent with your settings within the applicable social media service, such as location, check-ins, activities, interests, photos, status updates and friend list. We may also allow you to enter into contests to provide photos, which you may share with your connections on social media for votes, shared offers or other promotions. The personal information described in this paragraph is the “Social Data.”

     b. Sources and Recipients of Personal Information

    We receive personal information from the following categories of sources:

           c. Categories of Personal Information Collected, Disclosed, and Sold.

           

           

           *We do not currently sell personal information, however our prior use of common web analytics tools may be considered a sale under the California Consumer Privacy Act. To comply with the law and respect the privacy of our users, we have altered our implementation of these tools to not sell personal information.


          The above chart does not include information collected for employment related purposes or where your communications or transactions with us occur solely in the context of due diligence regarding, or providing or receiving a product or service to or from a company, partnership, sole proprietorship, nonprofit, or government agency on whose behalf you are acting.

          Employee Personal Information.

          An “employee” under the CCPA is someone acting as a job applicant to, an employee of, owner of, director of, officer of, medical staff member of, or contractor of that business (their “Role”) to the extent that the person’s personal information is collected and used by the business solely within the context of the person’s current or former foregoing Role.
          The categories of information we collect from employees are: identifiers; customer record information that identifies, relates to, describes, or is capable of being associated with, a particular individual; characteristics of protected classifications under California or federal law; biometric information; internet or other electronic network activity; geolocation data; audio, electronic, visual, thermal, olfactory, or similar information; professional or employment-related information; and education information.

          Within the context of their Role, we use this information for the purposes of evaluating qualifications related to your job, providing employee compensation, benefits, and services in the context of the employment relationship, auditing, detecting security incidents, research, quality control and maintaining a safe work environment for our employees. This includes, for example, conducting background reference, and credential checks; maintaining employee records; administering pay checks; providing employee discounts; tracking hours worked; compensating for work-related travel; providing access to our electronic networks and resources; and facility screening.
